Product application
The introduction of hydroxypropyl group breaks the intramolecular cyclic hydrogen bond of beta-cyclodextrin, maintaining the cyclodextrin cavity while overcoming the main drawback of poor water solubility of beta-cyclodextrin. It is mainly applied in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
1. In the pharmaceutical industry: Due to its relatively low surface activity and hemolytic activity, as well as its non-irritating effect on muscles, hydroxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin is an ideal solubilizer for injectables and excipient for drugs. It can enhance the water solubility of poorly soluble drugs, increase their stability, improve their bioavailability, reduce the dosage or increase the dosage of the drug, and adjust or control the release rate of the drug. It can be used as a carrier for oral medications, injections, mucosal drug delivery systems (including nasal mucosa, rectum, cornea, etc.), transdermal absorption drug delivery systems, and lipophilic targeted drugs. It can also be used as a protective agent and stabilizer for proteins.
2. Hydroxypropyl -β -cyclodextrin can enhance the stability of drugs. In the fields of food and spices: Hydroxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin can enhance the stability and long-term effectiveness of nutrient molecules, mask or correct the unpleasant odors and tastes of food nutrient molecules, and improve production processes and product quality. This product has excellent solubility in water. With a degree of substitution of 4 or above, it can be miscible with water in any proportion and also dissolve in 50% ethanol and methanol.

In the field of cosmetic raw materials: Hydroxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin is used as a stabilizer, emulsifier, deodorizer, etc. It can reduce the irritation of organic molecules in cosmetics to skin and mucous membrane tissues, enhance the stability of active ingredients, and prevent the volatilization and oxidation of nutrients. It has a certain relative hygroscopicity.
